It is rare - in fact, unprecedented - that we bestow our Pink Ribbon honors to a partner who has been active with the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate for barely two months. However, our first experience with the team from Le Castagne was more than enough to convince us that their generosity, professionalism and passion for the cause epitomizes all that the Pink Ribbon of the Month embodies.
For all of us, the story of Le Castagne's early activism with The Affiliate offers a wonderful message: it is not always the longevity of time together that makes for an exceptional partnership, but the achievements of that time together. In the case of Le Castagne, it all started with a four-course meal and a five-star commitment to empowering a very special facet of The Affiliate mission in our community.
The mission of which we speak is our very successful Komen Philadelphia Affiliate Philanthropy, Networking & Insights (P.I.N.) Stripes program for the Delaware Valley young professionals community. Thriving after nearly two years, this spring The Affiliate decided it was time to take P.I.N. Stripes to the next level of career empowerment and offer our audience a more sophisticated, rewarding event. However, to do so required an equally sophisticated presenting sponsor... one who not only could embrace our vision, but deliver every detail necessary to bring it to reality.
That sponsor was Le Castagne, who met our needs, and also transcended our expectations by bringing to the table exceptional creativity, resourcefulness and focus on the task at hand. And--literally--they they brought to the table an extraordinary meal like none ever presented to our P.I.N. Stripes guests!
But even before that meal was served, the management team and staff at Le Castagne got on board to help us shape what came to be known as P.I.N. Stripes: The Spotlight Series. For about two months, they were at the service of our P.I.N. Stripes committee--offering advice, guiding us on ways to enhance the evening, coordinating technical details and much more. With Le Castagne at our side, by the time May 24 rolled around, we knew the fifty young professionals present for the launch of the Spotlight Series would leave Le Castagne with no doubt in their minds that they attended a first-class event... something far beyond the typical "mix and mingle" approach to networking.
Beyond providing a venue and catering the meal, Le Castagne went to extraordinary measures to invest themselves in the success of the Spotlight Series. By their doing so, they enabled The Affiliate to nurture within our young professional audience the desire to begin their activism in the breast cancer movement, as well as to further implant our foothold in the career networking arena and make a successful transition into a combined fundraiser and career-building event.
Through just this one event, Le Castagne made an impact that will continue to be felt at the Komen Philadelphia Affiliate... and throughout the communities we serve. We thank them sincerely and look forward to continuing our friendship with them as, together, we bring all people closer to a world without breast cancer.
