Dear Loyal Race for the Cure Supporter,

This Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure season is a beautiful opportunity for us to count our blessings and make a concentrated effort to show our appreciation by fighting for those who suffer from the pains of breast cancer...
... those closest to us here at home, as well as those in other corners of the world
... those who have been diagnosed with the disease, as well as their loved ones who take every step of the journey with them
... the women and men courageously taking on the challenges of the disease at this moment, and those who will hear those horrifying words "I'm sorry, you have breast cancer," in the days to come.
The U.S. economic downturn continues to affect those with the least in this country. When people have less they are forced to do less, especially with regard to their health. A consequence is that breast cancer begins to go unchecked. And when we are not vigilant, lives are lost. Despite our progress in the breast cancer movement, the financial climate makes it very possible that someone who needs testing or treatment may not get it because of cutbacks in funding for educational programs that raise awareness, as well as those that provide access to testing and treatment for those in need.
And again, let us remember that the number of "those in need" is growing as jobs are being downsized, benefits are being cut and costs are rising.
Remember, your support and participation gives you the EDGE in empowering the breast cancer movement, plus you qualify for fabulous fundraising rewards, team prizes and more.
Every 3 minutes a woman is stricken with breast cancer, and with every 13 minutes that tick away before you register, another life is lost to breast cancer. That's right, in this country, a woman dies of breast cancer every 13 minutes. That's why each minute of our community's activism is of great importance in our ongoing quest for the cure.
Remember: 2010 Komen Philadelphia Race for the Fundraising Continues until July 31.
Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure with our 20/20 Vision plan. Simply ask 20 people to contribute $20 to your fundraising efforts and, through our community grants program, the $400 you raise could potentially fund for women in need:
- 8 clinical breast exams or 4 potentially life-saving mammograms
There is still time for you to contribute to the overall success of the 2010 Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure. So please, make one more donation before July 31, and take that one final step toward the finish line... into a world without breast cancer. Click here to make an individual donation, donate to a team or register as an online fundraiser.
As always, we thank you for your dedication, support and passion for bringing to reality the Komen vision of a world without breast cancer.
Thank you,
Jeanette Stephens-El
