At Komen Philadelphia, we know every step our community takes is another victory in the fight against breast cancer. And this is why – from grantees to volunteers, sponsors to fundraisers, physicians to women in need, children to adults – we involve and empower ALL people in our fight in ways that are most helpful and meaningful to them… and in ways that will make the greatest impact in enriching, as well as saving, lives.
In fifteen counties, we dedicate our work to not just helping women live “past” breast cancer… but to helping all people and all generations live WITH it. Whether you’ve taken the journey in your life, or have never been diagnosed, this disease is a reality in our world. Komen Philadelphia’s mission focuses on creating a knowledgeable, supportive, confident and capable community that, in the face of breast cancer, can stand up, unite, fight back, and survive.
We truly believe one day breast cancer will be banished from our world forever.
As science continues to advance treatments and work toward the cure, Komen Philadelphia’s Community Grants Program focuses on saving lives today from this horrible disease, while also establishing foundations that better the odds for future generations to survive breast cancer. The majority (75%) of our funds is used to advance Komen Philadelphia outreach and our Community Grants Program in our local service area. The remainder is used to empower science to find the cures for ALL women and men, of the present and future.
