A True Affair To Be Remembered… and A Story Not To Be Forgotten

The Komen Philadelphia Affiliate extends our deepest appreciation to the Williamson sisters for helping assure our 2009 Pink Tie Ball® was undeniably an "Affair To Be Remembered," by transforming the Ritz-Carton Ballroom into a beautiful, elegant hope-filled atmosphere. The four sisters, founders, owners, designers and operators of Affairs To Be Remembered, Inc., located in Broomall, PA truly embraced the challenge of decorating THE charity event of Philadelphia's fall social season.

All total, they donated more than $15,000 of supplies and service, attended countless event committee and planning meetings, and spent almost four days designing, arranging and setting up a picture-perfect evening.

And what was that picture like? Romance. Elegance. Celebration. To the nth degree! The moment one entered the ballroom he or she was instantly embraced with a beautiful marrying of nature's most graceful creations with elegant touches. Flowering apple blossom branches donned hanging crystal strands that shimmered playfully in the room's lighting. Fresh green curly willow and orchid blossoms interacted with iridescent beads to reflect into every eye of the beholder, the light of life that defines the Pink Tie Ball. And of course, PINK EVERYWHERE - in three hope-filled varieties: watermelon, fuchsia, and an energetic bubble gum. Every arrangement was truly inspired.

"The Pink Tie Ball was a wonderful opportunity for us to use what we do every day of our lives, to transform ballroom space into something that captured the spirit, community and hope of the Pink Tie Ball," said Annabelle Williamson-Mirra. "We are four women in business, so taking on this project didn't require a second thought. We can encounter this disease, and we knew by taking part in the Pink Tie Ball we would be doing what we do best for an extremely worthy cause."

Fortunately none of the sisters who are the heart and soul behind Affairs To Be Remembered, Inc., Annabelle Williamson-Mirra, Marie Williamson, Maureen Williamson-Collins and Eileen Williamson-Getty, have ever been diagnosed with breast cancer. However, some have had breast cancer scares and, like most of us, they have taken the breast cancer journey with family and friends. Certainly, one look at their Pink Tie Ball creations, and it was clear that these women had a deep understanding of the courage survivors draw upon, the hope Komen embodies and the celebration to be had in survivorship.

The Komen Philadelphia Affiliate thanks Affairs To Be Remembered, Inc. for sharing their talents and passion with us all to help end breast cancer.
